Movie Review: Morbius

No one should cast Tyrese Gibson in a movie. He can’t act and this movie is proof of that. He may be fit for Transformers or even music but not in a serious movie like Morbius. Okay this movie was good but not all that great. Michael Morbius like every other Marvel Comics superhero/anti-hero is a genius. I don’t know why they do that with every character and still make it work.

I respect the character but I don’t know that much about him aside from his appearances in the 1990s Spider-Man animated series. He’s dark and mysterious and he loves science and medicine and got his doctorate at 19. He spent a lot of time perfecting a serum that could cure his illness. His best friend Milo is the vilain in the story. He’s played by Matt Smith, one of BBC’s Doctor Whos who replaced David Tenant and was succeeded by Peter Capaldi.

He was a great villain and his character also had a disease similar to Morbius’ and it caused him to go behind Michael Morbius’ back and steal the cure. It drove him mad and he became a villain. Tyrese was an agent or officer of the law and he trackded down Morbius and then Milo, Matt Smith’s character. It was a fight to the finish but good guys always win and Michael did so. The love interest was boring and didn’t do much but smile and try to look intelligent but she wasn’t. She wasn’t even in the same ballpark as Morbius whenit came to intelligence and less so than most doctors.

Anyway, it was cool seeing Michael Keaton back in his role as Vulture from Spider-Man: Homecoming. Don’t know exactly what purpose that was for as it was neither here nor there but then again, they are both Spider-Man villains. But this is the closing credits. Something should materialize.
