Movie Review: Justice League: The New Frontier
What is it with movies these days? They start off great and last for thirty minutes then start to fizzle. I don’t get it. Anyway, this movie was horrible the second time around. I don’t know if when I watched it eleven years ago it sucked or was good to me then. Wonder Woman was muscular and manly, Flash is voiced by a gay guy and Iris is still white. I loved the fact that Batman was still dark and firm and this movie was set in 1953 to 1960, I think. The war is on and the threat is something alien called The Center.
It boggles the mind how aliens got to the forefront of an American war but hey, it was conceived for this movie and implemented in the story. Robin, Batman’s sidekick was there but Batman belittled hi by telling him to do his homework and in doing so miss the action. Classic. Jon Jones, the Martian Manhunter was lame and he just seemed to shapeshift all the time and boy did he love old school tv. Aliens came out of a pterodactyl in the millions. Yes, a giant, flying pteradactyl.
It was insane and then there was the green lantern of earth who we only saw use his powers at the end, in the last ten or so minutes. It had potential but it fizzled. I was hoping to enjoy it the second time seeing it but it just reminded me why I switched fan allegiance from DC to Marvel even though I have and always will have a special place for the justice league in my heart, both individually and collectively.
