Movie Review: Horror of Dracula
This movie was very dark and scary at times but this movie was boring even though it came out in 1958. It lacked depth and the incessant killing of people in the first fifteen minutes. Dracula got way too much credit than he deserves in pop culture history. Sure, we have Jason, Freddy, Chucky and Michael today but Dracula is supposed to be a classic and the former four to never match up. It’s not like LeBron James taking the crown from Michael Jordan when everyone thinks Michael is more endearing.
I mildly like this film but the man who got killed in the first ten minutes was a disappointment. I thought he was going to be the hero yet he got turned into a vampire and soon after died. And the cross and garlic is an ancient touch but they worked. I also saw Michael Gough. You would remember him as Alfred in the Batman movies from 1989 to 1997. He was young and ugly though. But he aged into an old man very well. All and all, despite its flaws deserves a B.
