A former client of Barbara’s put a it on her from prison and was almost carried out by a member of the police force, Jim Gordon’s police officer’s. He almost succeeded, going far and deep in the police force with betrayals left, right and centre. Jim being the fool, was adamant that he would back down and almost got killed but with some advice from Barbara and Montoya finally caved as he was not the real target all along. Bruce has no computers as they weren’t in in those times. I think this was set in the 20s, 30, 40s or close. But this was an intense episode and full of mysteries.
