Movie Review: Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979)

This movie was pretty awesome. It had its boring parts but in the end it got its just rewards. Jim Kirk returns to the enterprise because of an anomaly that was about to threaten the planet earth and he needed to be the one to save God’s blue and white. It was intense and I saw Stephen Collins from 7th Heaven. Yes, the republican actor and alleged sex offender playing the role of captain of the USS Enterprise which has been revamped and ten times better than it was.

Captain Decker, Collins character has been demoted to commander due to Admiral Kirk’s return, something Decker hated much and tries to upstage Kirk at any turn. Throughout this, Solo, Bones, Chekov and the rest are also back and are following Kirk’s strange yet trustworthy orders, just like old times.

The team go throughout the universe at warp speeds. Now eventually we see that this anomaly is a living machine that has been evolving just like all life forms on its planet. Apparently NASA placed him to orbit the earth and collect data to advance scientific research and transmit it back to earth. Eventually we learn that this machine is sentient and is just a baby life for m who just wants to bond with it’s great and learn like humans, organically instead of operating one-sidedly and by logic alone.

No, it was to be like organic beings do. So Captain Decker merged with it and his shipmate and love interest bonded with the machine and they disappeared in the vastness of space. Captain Kirk and his team are heroes and gave Decker and his companion a label of missing. Awesome. Some movie, wow!
